Thanksgiving 2014

PLEASE CLICK "OLDER POST" AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO VIEW MORE PAST HOLIDAYS!

Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving..... is the best holiday for me.  I enjoy doing Thanksgiving dinner parties because I love the decor involved. Though it's typically the same each year it's always so fun putting all the things together - especially the fall harvest colors.  I had a great Thanksgiving with my family as usual, the food was great and plentiful.  :)  See below....

Tea and coffee to go with dessert!  ;)

I made these yummy sweet potato pies!

With help from my sister and mother, we turned out this beautiful apple pie.

CHRISTMAS '10
Christmas was a great celebration. What was so great about it was that I didn't have to do anything. :) My mother hosted the entire thing! It was good to get out of the house and to be at someone else's house for a change. I got all the gifts that I wanted, and out of them all, my electric kettle and shortbread cookies imported from Scotland were my favorites! :) ..Oh, and I do love the Givenchy fragrance I received as well! :)

THANKGIVING '10

I got a bit lazy this Thanksgiving, as I was a little pressed for time, having to work long hours. I really wasn't prepared to have a large dinner, just something relaxing that didn't require me to have to do a lot of work. I wanted to eat, relax, and watch movies on my short Thanksgiving break. However, I got all the basics done with not nearly the amount of clean up--clearing the table--that I had to do the previous years. We all just fixed our plates from the stove and enjoyed! It was actually quite nice and quaint. :)

Halloween '10

Halloween, as usual, was a great holiday for me. I had a good time decorating the garden, house, and giving out candy to the little ones who came by. You can see some of my pictures below. :)

A Mediterranean Labor day Celebration.

Main Course (clockwise): roasted zucchini with goat cheese and herbs, taboule cous-cous salad, grilled miniature pita rounds, roasted garlic hummus, and roasted chicken kabobs.

Dessert: Fresh strawberries and cream

My sister and I took it upon ourselves to do something totally different to celebrate the last summer holiday. We both put our thinking caps on and thought outside of the box for this menu. :) It was a nice, low-cal (always good) Mediterranean celebration. :)

Memorial Day '10

Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have given their lives for our country. This Memorial Day, I had the chance to have a small get together and celebrate the lives of our falling heroes. What I like most about Memorial Day, a part from remembering those who we have lost, is that it is the first BBQ of the year! We did a little BBQing, and boy was it great! :P

Yummy sides and BBQ (turkey burgers, ribs, and chicken)

Ring in the New Year with Southern Flare (Jan. '10)

This New Year, I decided to step out of my comfort zone. Instead of having the traditional, southern collard greens and beans to ring in the new year, I decided to host a southern tea party with all the fixin's. ;)
